girl’s weekend, nashville in march

My friend, sorority sister, and our wedding minister Mary Beth celebrated her own bachelorette status in Nashville this past weekend, and it was so much fun y’all. The trip is already hazy but I’m fairly certain she set the bar on how girls’ weekends should be done. Hats off to the Maid and Matron of Honor for keeping 11 women happy, safe, relatively on time and well-fed for an entire weekend.

I saved money by getting an early morning flight Thursday and landed a few hours before the other girls. I rented a car at the airport (with a free upgrade ayeee) and toured around town for a few hours. It started to drizzle so I stopped at a cool local coffee shop for a disappointing iced coffee and realized I am not cool enough to live in new-hipster-Nashville. I stopped by a couple vintage stores and finally bought my first pair of cowboy boots before heading to Five Daughters Bakery where my heart grew by three sizes. I’ve heard really great things about their crounuts (croissant doughnuts), so I bought a big box for the house and one in a bag, and then had my life changed by a doughnut in a parking lot. PSA: if you ever go to Nashville without tasting this magic, you are doing yourself a disservice.

The rest of the weekend’s details are fuzzy. Friday was spent at a beautiful winery, Sabucca’s was nice that night for dinner, and I had the best chicken and waffles of my life at ACME. The trailer park bar was hilariously homey to me, and my college dancing buddy and I hit the floor at the Wildhorse Saloon. I got to catch up with some sorority sisters and meet some incredible new friends of Mary Beth’s. We all had so much fun on the third floor of Honkey Tonk that we went back two nights in a row. All in all, I screamed country songs I barely know until I actually gave myself laryngitis… it’s safe to say I enjoyed myself and more importantly, I think the bride did too!

I’m really excited to watch this girl marry the love of her life in a few months. And Nashville, I’ll be back for you in September for my friend Ali’s bachelorette!
